K. Eleven Muldrow

K. Eleven Muldrow (also known as Kayla Muldrow) is a “professional expressionist”, a visual artist, poet, spoken word artist, and organizer based in Newark, New Jersey. She is currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts at Cooper Union in New York City. She is the cofounder of the CGNB collective based in Newark, New Jersey. She has organized numerous events including Cypher Nites and Soft Nites in Brooklyn, and Self Summer and Stanzas in Newark. Her art has been exhibited in galleries and local venues throughout New Jersey and NYC.

About her work in WOV II:
For “A Womb of Violet: Volume II”, Muldrow has contributed with a poem, “No more games to play”, and a portrait in collaboration with Kimani Munford (2019). Among other topics, the poem alludes to police abuse: “I think someone called the cops / 911 yes those are the opps / Enforcing laws that enable capitalism and continuous criminalization of the Earth body and human soul.” The photograph, with saturated oranges and greens, depicts the artist without clothes but covered in body paint, looking straight to the camera/audience.
