About her work in WOV II:
The two poems included in “A Womb of Violet: Volume II Blackness, Resistance, and Being” are “in January // black love + afrofuturism” and “rinse/wash/repeat.” The first one alludes to a fantasy of liberation, a place and a time when the writer rejoices in not being in someone’s company. With five lines, douglas succeeds in transporting the readers to a peaceful space, and bring them back to reality - one that is more like a nightmare than a dream.
